I was 11yrs old when my Mum had a subarachnoid brain haemorrhage. We lived out in the Akatarawa Valley, north of Upper Hutt. An ambulance couldn't get to us fast enough nor up our driveway and according to the paramedics Mum was very close to dying (only a few mins). The Westpac Chopper was called. It landed in a neighbouring farm where Mum was transported to and flown to Wellington Hospital, she later had 3 surgeries on her brain. It is without a shadow of a doubt my Mum would not be here today to see us kids and her grand kids grow up without the Westpac Chopper. Thank you very much!!!
