It’s not the sound of a chopper.
It’s the sound of a second chance.

Westpac

For over 30 years, the Westpac Chopper has been giving New Zealanders a second chance at life.
And this has only been possible through the generosity of the New Zealand public. Donations made not only help pay for the more than 5,000 rescue missions performed each year, but they also keep the many hopes and dreams of survivors alive. Have a look below at what some of those rescued have done with their second chance.

Richie McCaw Chopper Challenge Winners

June 7th, 2011

This Chopper Appeal, Richie McCaw challenged all schools in New Zealand to raise money for their local Rescue Chopper – with the school that raised the most money by 31 May 2011 based on their roll winning a visit from Richie McCaw and their local Rescue Chopper on 15 June 2011.

The competition was an even playing field with the total amount of money raised by a school divided by the school roll as it is registered with the Ministry of Education, giving a per pupil average.

We’re excited to announce the winner is . . . Pukeokahu School in Taihape! This little school of just ten students raised an incredible $2,302.20 for the Palmerston North Rescue Helicopter – that’s an amazing $230.22 per pupil average!

Congratulations Pukeokahu School! Richie and your local Rescue Helicopter will be winging their way to you shortly!
